Hi All,
I've just compiled a new release of ffmpeg-0.49pre based on a cvs pull
this afternoon.

Included in this release is the latest code, and the optional external
libraries: mp3lame, liba52 (ac3), and libdts (DTS).

Any feedback is appreciated (including just saying that it works) and
should be sent to paul@smedley.info

ffmpeg is a utility to convert video from one format to another. ffserver
and ffplay are not included in this release.

Current URL is:

end up in
http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/os2/apps/mmedia/ffmpeg-os2-0.49pre20050603.zip

Documentation is now included in html format - thanks to Franz Bakan for
pointing out how easy texi documentation is to convert using texi2html :)

SW: UNIAUD latest update - 20050531

From: madodelDESPAM@DESPAMptdprolog.net

"The aim of the UniAud project is the creation of universal audio driver
based on ALSA project. Maintainers do NOT undertake a commitment to add
new cards that are lacking support in ALSA project, but are going to
refresh UniAud with latest ALSA sources as far as possible. Bugfixes for
hardware specific code will correspond to ALSA fixes. Also, some nuances
are possible, but in most cases we are going to proceed like this. Authors
are planning to create new and unique API to make the usage of all
resources and features of modern audio cards possible. API will use
neither DART nor other exists OS/2's audio subsystems."

SW: SciTech SNAP Graphics for OS/2 version 3.0.6

31 May 2005 22:30:09

++ From the VOICE OS/2-eComStation News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++

From: stevewDESPAM@DESPAMscitechsoft.com

------------------------------------
SciTech SNAP Graphics 3.0.6 for OS/2
Professional Edition
------------------------------------

Where can I download it?
------------------------

You can download SciTech SNAP Graphics for OS/2 version 3.0.6 from the
SciTech web site using the following URL:

http://www.scitechsoft.com/products/ent/snap_os2_content.html

This is a free update for registered users of SNAP Graphics 3.x for OS/2,
but it is NOT a free upgrade from version 2.x. If you wish to use it
beyond the 21 day trial period, you may purchase a license for it in our
online store:

http://store.scitechsoft.com/

What's new in this version?
---------------------------

Here are the major changes since version 3.0.0:

* Added hardware video overlay support for ATI chipsets:
ATI Rage IIC, Rage Pro, Rage LT Pro, Rage XL, Rage Mobility
ATI Rage 128, Rage 128 Pro, Rage 128 Ultra, Rage Mobility 128
ATI Rage Mobility 128-D4x, Radeon 7000, Radeon 7200
ATI Radeon 7500, Radeon 8500, Radeon 8500DV
ATI Mobility Radeon, Mobility Radeon 7000 IGP
ATI Mobility Radeon 7500, Mobility Radeon 9000
ATI Mobility Radeon 9000 IGP, Radeon 9000 Series
ATI Radeon 9100 Pro IGP, Radeon 9100, Mobility Radeon 9200
ATI Radeon 9200 Series, Radeon 9500, Radeon 9500 Pro
ATI Radeon 9550, Mobility Radeon 9600, Radeon 9600 Series
ATI Radeon 9600 XT, Radeon 9700 Pro, Mobility Radeon 9800
ATI Radeon 9800, Radeon 9800 Pro, Radeon 9800 XT
ATI Mobility Radeon X300, Mobility Radeon X600
ATI Radeon X300 Series, Radeon X600 Series
ATI Mobility Radeon X800, Radeon IGP 320M / 340M
ATI Radeon XPress 200

Please note that this requires application support; one application
with SNAP overlay support is EmperoarTV:

http://www.s-t.de/emperoar/

The authors of EmperoarTV had this to say about SNAP overlays:

"The key benefit for an end user is the simple, out of the box
install with no need to hunt for any other third party products.
Besides that, as an integral part of SNAP, the overlay is an
offically tested and certfied driver function, on which the user
can rely."

"The user has greater control over overlay properties. For
example, WarpOverlay on Rage LT Pro doesn't support any
adjustments at all, while SNAP offers Brightness, Saturation
and Gamma."

"Furthermore, it offers nice seamless window dragging."

Developers wishing to add support for SNAP overlays into their
own products will find what they need in the SNAP SDK:

http://www.scitechsoft.com/products/dev/developer_home.html

* Added native panel programming for ATI Radeon chipsets. This feature
provides support for widescreen and other non-BIOS modes on digital
flat panels, and allows MultiHead in DFP+CRT configurations.

* Added acceleration support for more chipsets, including:
ATI ES1000, Radeon 9550, Radeon X300, Radeon X600
ATI Mobility Radeon 9800, Mobility Radeon X300
ATI Mobility Radeon X800, Radeon XPress 200
NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 4000, GeForce FX 5500

* Uses the latest GRADD components from IBM, version E.099
This adds support for "Enhanced Suspend" and reduces the
amount of shared memory used by fullscreen sessions.

For a complete list of changes, see the changelog:

http://www.scitechsoft.com/snap2_changes.txt

Corrected error in displaying hidden updates.
Corrected a possible loop when verifying ecsmt.ini.

I need some testers for the first item.

The file can be found at
ftp://ftp.netlabs.org/pub/gphoto/gphoto2-devpack.zip

It reports itself as v2.1.5rc1 which indicates (to me at least) that it
should be pretty similar in features to v2.1.5 which is the last official
release of gphoto at gphoto.net

I haven't yet had a chance to test this, however, running gphoto2
--auto-detect did detect my camera.

Cheers,

Paul.
